Apple Purchases Akonia Holographics confirms it’s AR ambitions

The cupertino based giant has recently acquired the company Akonia Holographics which makes thin lenses for AR Glasses. This acquisition more than confirms that apple has plans to launch something in the AR space by 2020.

Akonia has been around since 2012 but has only in recent times, started working on the lenses which they mention are thin, transparent and able to support larger resolutions.

Apple CEO Tim Cook has been very optimistic regarding the growth of AR during the next few year saying that AR is “a big idea, like the smartphone,” .That is the reason apple has been pumping so much effort and money into this tech.
